I have smoked only one cigarette in my entire life. I was a teenager back then so I just needed to fit in somehow. My father had bought some high quality cigarettes for one of my uncles although my father dislikes smoking. I was just rummaging through the closets when I found the shiny box of cigarettes. I was shocked at how pretty it looked so I desperately wanted to open it. The box reminded me of candy boxes! But I dared not open it on my own. Thus I took it to my older brother who listened to me and then opened the pack. Then he lit two cigarettes, one for me and one for himself. I smiled at him because I knew it was his first time smoking as well. He took a puff and I felt encouraged to take a puff too. Soon chaos happened! My throat became too dry; I could not breathe properly; I started coughing; and, some nose goo started flowing out of my nose. But I wanted to do this because I needed to show off to my older brother. So I smoked another puff; this time I felt like crying. Soon rational part of my teenager brain kicked in. I told my brother that maybe we should stop because we are injuring ourselves. I knew that cigarette pack looked too shiny and tempting. So next I got way scared, ran outside, and told my parents that I gave the box to my brother and that we have been smoking together. Soon dad came and took the box away. He was angry at us for opening it without permission.
Lesson Learned: Smoking is injurious to health.
Lesson Not Learned: How and why is everyone else doing this?
